The East Coast and West Coast Television Guild Writers Unions were on strike from November 5, 2007 to February 12, 2008. From the labor unions, an estimated 12,000 writers. The Union Writer's strikers were representing television, radio and films writers in the United States. They set out to improve a great financial injustice by a trade organization called the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers. Many of these organizations are well named companies headed by top CEO’s such as; CBS, MGM, NBC, Walt Disney Company and not less prominent others. A tentative agreement was met on February 8, 2009 and ratified by 93.6% on February 26, 2009. The striking writers guild has a court order made to assure agreement is honored. The Writers Guild was on strike for 100 days and the American entertainment business cost was about $500 million.

The Writers Guild of America has come for the digital age with a contract that is the best one in 30 years. This writers strike can be called the most compelling action taken against the entertainment industry. T

The Guild has come a long way. The reuse of VHS tapes and the incoming DVD discs put the former 1960s contract in the dust by 1980. With other strikes in 1985 and 1988, the contracts were pulverized and left the writers in jeopardy again. J. Nicholas Counter, president of the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers made the Guild promises that were never kept. In result, Patric Verrone replaced him and took the office along with David Young and new outlooks towards the next negotiations.

The Writers Guild ended the upsetting of television dramas and comedies and the production of big hit movies for many of the TV viewers. They were eager to get back to work after ratifying the new contracts. The strike cost the writers about $285 million and the other film union’s writers about $500 million.
