Marley and Me is a fun family film that has recently been released to DVD. Based on the best-selling autobiographical book by columnist John Grogan, Marley and Me is a film about the magical bond between pet and owner. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston star as the young happily newly wed couple that decide to adopt a young blonde Labrador Retriever. When the puppy arrives, so does the trouble. Marley destroys everything in his path, but he also seems to be the sticky stuff that holds the family together through the many hard times that they come up against. Marley and Me is a film that is sure to steal your heart, as well as break it.
The Tale of Despereaux is another family friendly film. Adapted from the children's fantasy book written by Kate DiCamillo, The Tale of Despereaux is a heartwarming tale about courage and bravery, as well as heart. In this tale, size really doesn't matter. The story begins when a rat accidentally falls into the soup and causes the Queen to die of fright. The King immediately banishes all rats and soup from his kingdom and its lands. For a time, there seems to be no way that the once happy kingdom will ever be cheerful and bright again. However, when a small mouse by the name of Despereaux is born, so is hope for the future of the kingdom.
Bedtime Stories, also recently released on DVD, is the tale of a young boy that loses his dream and grows to be a bitter young man. When his sister has to leave town for a few days and needs him to babysit, he will soon find his way back to the magical land of his imagination with a little crazy help from his nephew and niece.
