May is the start of the summer movie season. This is the time when all the movie studios start to release what they hope will be their summer blockbuster. Here are a few of the upcoming releases coming to a theater near you.
Some of the movies coming out this summer have a legion of fans who have been waiting for a very long time. One such movie is "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." This movie is the latest from the X-Men series based on the popular comic books. Another movie coming out in early May is "Star Trek." This prequel to the series is about young James Kirk and the beginning of the USS Enterprise.
Other movies coming in May are the comedies "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," "Next Day Air" and "Night at The Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian." If action and drama are more your taste, you might look for "Angels & Demons" or "Terminator Salvation," both out in late May.
In June, you have big-name movies being released like "Land of the Lost," "The Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3," "The Proposal," "Year One" and "My Sister's Keeper." Also coming in June is "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen," the highly anticipated sequel to the very successful 2007 film.
These are just a few of the big studio movies that are coming out this summer. Of course, there are other smaller, independent films, but these are not as widely advertised and usually don’t have a big-name star. These films might be just as good, but the box office will be the final judge.
