For the consummate movie buff, the desire to own a complete DVD collection usually goes hand in hand with also going to the movies. Each week a new selection of DVDs is released which, for the most part, are recent movies that have completed their run in the theater. However, with the advent of Blu-ray, now DVD collectors have even more of a selection.
Similar to when DVD came out and classic movies were transferred onto the new technology, DVDs are now being transferred on to Blu-ray. Now, each week there are two lists of DVD releases: The recent movies/TV series and the Blu-ray. Just recently some of the DVDs that have hit the rental stores and malls include “Frost/Nixon,” “The Wrestler,” “Notorious,” “The Reader,” “The Spirit” and “Bedtime Stories.” Pretty impressive release for the week considering the box office and the Academy Award nominations this combined group had. But in addition, much to the glee of Blu-ray fans, another group of movies was also released specifically for the Blu-ray collection. These movies include “Pride and Prejudice,” “The Star Wars Trilogy,” “Gladiator” and “Finding Nemo.” This is also a pretty impressive group of releases. DVD fans have got to be enjoying the options they are being given with all these choices.
Depending on the technology you have at home, you are bound to find something you like on one of the two lists. Remember, normal DVDs can be played on a Blu-ray player, but Blu-ray discs cannot be played on a regular DVD player.
