Dave Chappelle, a wildly popular and highly-ranked comedian, graduated in 1991 from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. He started his career in New York, being booed at the Apollo Theater, like so many others. Tough room. He appeared in more than five movies and co-wrote the movie "Half Baked." Chappelle was approached for a part in "Forrest Gump" but turned it down.
In 2003, "The Dave Chappelle Show" appeared on the cable channel Comedy Central. It had great success but was also controversial. In 2004, Chappelle halted production of the show. Chappelle became famous for walking out of the show and traveling to Africa.
Chappelle returned to stand-up in 2005 and went on tour. He traveled to endorse "Block Party All-Stars featuring Dave Chappelle," but had a problem with fame and wanted a quieter life. He now lives in Ohio.
You can still see videos on the Comedy Central website.
