Do
you watch "Dancing With The Stars?"
Or maybe "So You Think You Can Dance?" You'll see elaborate costumes on both shows
when it's time for ballroom dancing. (The clip shows "So You Think" winner Janette in a Salsa.)
Here
are some differences. In International
dance, the female is in a "closed" position. The American dancer is seen in different
positions. When used, the Boa is smaller
on an American dancer. The International
dancer doesn't have much movement of the Boa.
With respect to length, the American dancer could trip on the material
worn by the International dancer, and the gown length refers to
"floats." The designs include
feathers, sequins and other decorations.
The costumes cost between $50 and $1,000.
The lucky male dancers' costumes, just consisting of shirt, pants and tie, cost around $200. Latin style pants bring it to approximately $220. This wouldn't include decoration or other color choices. Shoes for both are between $50 and $100. Here's another detail: American costumes can be worn in International competitions, but not the other way around. OK, 5-6-7-8!
