A Review of Julie and Julia
I liked it, but Julie and Julia is a total chick-flick. Straight men beware, the two male characters are extremely supportive of their spouses. The points you get for sitting through a chick-flick could vaporize in contrast to Julie's husband, "Saint Eric" and Julia's husband, Paul Child.
I do have two issues with the movie. The movie totally glazed over Julia Child's embarking on television. Julia, as The French Chef, was one of the first television cooks and certainly accelerated the concept with her show that ran from 1962 to 1974. A conflict brought up in the movie that was never resolved is when a reporter from a newspaper contacted Julie telling her that Julia is not pleased with her blog. Nothing concrete was ever stated and it was left dangling.
