My friends sometimes consider me the movie and TV expert. I love trivia questions, and some of them won't play "Scene It?" with me. Why don't some people pay attention to the names of writers and directors? If I love (or hate) a movie or TV show, I want to know who was behind it -- to see their work again or to avoid it.
The advent of DVRs and mailbox movie rentals has made it easier to feed this particular addiction. When new TV shows debut, I'll usually watch every one once. Sometimes that will get me hooked, but other times I've checked it out, no more, goodbye.
I'm one of those people who still love the movie theater experience, despite the high cost of admission and popcorn. When Oscar nominations are announced, I make a list. I have a goal of seeing every movie I think will win the big ones - Best Actor and Actress, Supporting Actor and Actress, Director and Picture. Sometimes that's put me in the front row of the theater. It's rough on the neck.
Despite the ability to rent movies and enjoy them at home, movie theaters still get crowded. I guess I'm not the only one who stays until all the credits roll.
