Female Movie Stars

Female movie stars range from the young and the beautiful, like Megan Fox or Natalie Portman, to the more seasoned actresses, like Dame Judi Dench or Meryl Streep. Some are known as sex symbols, and some become the subject of tabloids. These movie stars are famous for their choices in clothing and fashion as much as their roles in films. Regardless, they are women capable of showcasing a range of emotions onscreen to entertain and engage the masses.

Megan Fox is a 23 year-old actress made famous by her memorable performance in the 2007 film Transformers. This beautiful young female movie star was not given a lot of character to work with in that popcorn flick, but the success of the film and the subsequent exposure it has given her has lead to increased film opportunities for Fox. She was also nominated for three Teen Choice Awards and an MTV Award for her performance in the film. Her next role is in Jennifer's Body, a horror film in which Fox plays a demon-possessed cheerleader. The film was written by Diablo Cody, the writer of the hit film Juno. Despite her status as FHM's 2008 Sexiest Woman in the World, Fox has something interesting to say about being an attractive young woman, "I don't want to have to go on talk shows and pull out every single SAT word I've ever learned to prove, like, 'Take me seriously, I am intelligent, I can speak.'"

Actress Meryl Streep has long been a leading female movie star and has been heralded for her performances for decades. Astoundingly, Streep has been nominated for 15 Academy Awards, more than any other actress, and has won two Oscars. The films she has been in include such groundbreaking movies as Dog Day Afternoon, The Deer Hunter, Kramer vs. Kramer (for which she won her first Academy Award), Manhattan, Out of Africa, and The Bridges of Madison County. In addition to acting in movies, Streep has had a successful career in theatre, and has even won awards for her singing ability, which she displayed on the soundtrack to the musical film Mamma Mia!
