Upcoming Horror Movies
If you like movies that center around things that go bump in the night, you may be interested in upcoming horror movies.
While horror films are notorious for opening near the Halloween
holiday, some of the most anticipated horror movies being released in
the next year are opening sooner than some might think.
The most prominent of 2009's upcoming horror movies is Drag Me to Hell,
a film directed by the legendary director of the Evil Dead series, Sam
Raimi. The film is about a female loan officer named Christine (Alison
Lohman) who is cursed by older gypsy woman after evicting her from her
home. The curse turns her life into a nightmare, and she must battle to
save her soul from the evil woman. The film promises to bring back
Raimi's signature mix of violent, creepy horror and comedy to the big
screen. It opens on May 29, 2009.
Another highly anticipated upcoming horror movie for 2009 is H2, the sequel to Rob Zombie's Halloween remake. This film, like its predecessor, will feature some twists on the original Halloween 2
storyline, and, in fact, most of the film will take place two years
following the events of the prior film. According to Zombie, the film
will analyze the protagonist, Laurie Strode (Scout Taylor-Compton), and
her descent into an insanity reminiscent of her mass murdering-brother
Michael's. The film is set to be released on August 28, 2009.
Finally, a remake of the classic A Nightmare on Elm Street is set to be released April 16, 2010. Jackie Earle Haley (Rorschach in Watchmen)
is set to star as Freddy Krueger, and the relatively unknown Rooney
Mara will star as Nancy Thompson. As of yet, little details of the plot
have been released, although it is said that it will take place in
modern times.
There are many more upcoming horror movies that will be released in the following months.
